We Are Special

We are all gifts to the universe, even with our imperfections and personality quirks. Don’t be afraid to show the world who you are, just as you are!

Whether we are aware of it or not, we are all gifts, both to the world and to ourselves.

We are each at various stages of being opened. Some of us have been unwrapped and fully opened for decades. Others of us perhaps have never been fully opened.

More so than ever, there are times when I have been fully unwrapped, presenting my full self to the world. It may feel a bit vulnerable, but it is worth enduring that feeling, as I also experience a great deal of positive energy and freedom. Simply put, it feels great to be living in accordance with my authentic self.

Yet, I sometimes have a tendency to retreat back into my gift box when I perceive non-acceptance or rejection. Or perhaps sometimes when I ask myself … “who am I to shine”?

I am working on trusting the universe. Trusting that I have the ability to be true to myself, to display to the world the gift that I am, while recognizing that I have no control over how others will perceive me. That if they choose to write me off, to come to any negative conclusions about me, it is all about them, rather than about me.

When I or others retreat, it is both sad and undeserved. We are no less special regardless of how others may perceive us. We were not born to be perfect. We are only human. We were born to have our love shine, to radiate that love out to others as best we can. To lovingly embrace our human imperfections. And to accept the imperfections of others, with the only caveat being protecting ourselves as needed if there is any risk of emotional or physical abuse.

How beautiful a sight it would be for all of us to enthusiastically and confidently shout from the rooftops …

I do not need everyone to like me. I only need one person to like me, and that person is … ME
